OLSPS History

 

1989 – OLRAC is founded

The OLSPS Group was started with the founding of OLRAC in 1989 by Drs Amos Barkai and Mike Bergh with the aim of building a company specialising in the scientific management of commercial fishing resources.

2001 – SPSS-SA is founded

In 2001 OLSPS founded SPSS-SA (OLSPS Analytics) and became the sole providers of SPSS in South Africa and some Sub Saharan African countries. Aiming to offer this complex statistical software to commercial and various other sectors that could benefit from the SPSS suite of powerful tools.

2001 – 2012 – SPSS-SA expanded from software provider to an analytical in-house solutions provider.

From 2001 – 2012 SPSS-SA expanded its offering and became established as not only a software provider but an analytical in-house solutions provider in predictive analytics, big data, complex optimisations and various other solutions.

2012 – OLRAC & SPSS-SA merge to form OLRAC SPS

In 2012 IBM acquired SPSS Inc so OLRAC and SPSS-SA merged to form OLRAC SPS. The newly merged company was divided into 3 specialised units:

  • Predictive analytics
  • Fisheries management
  • Fisheries Electronic Logbook Management

2012 – OLRAC SPS was awarded the IBM Predictive Analytics 2012 Middle East & Africa Business Partner Achievement and the SA Business Partner of the Year Award

In 2012 OLRAC SPS was awarded the IBM Predictive Analytics 2012 Middle East & Africa Business Partner Achievement Award and the Business Partner of the Year Award for its predictive claims segmentation solution provided to short-term insurer Santam.

Between 2012 and 2016 three additional country offices were founded:

    • OLSPS Holidings (UK)
    • OLSPS International LDA (Portugal)
    • Enjol (Australia)

2017 – OLSPS Zimbabwe and OLSPS Mozambique joined the OLSPS Group

2017 became a very exciting year, as we expanded and partnered with 2 distribution partners in Zimbabwe and Mozambique: OLSPS Zimbabwe (sister company to Regal Systems Pvt. Ltd.) and OLSPS Mozambique (formerly Prisma Engenharia LDA).

In 2017 OLRAC SPS was split to form OLSPS Analytics and OLSPS Marine.
